Well you didn’t really think that the kings of the car-niche would ignore the number 2 for ever did you? Despite the less than universal praise the original Audi A2 attracted (and, by Audi’s standards, miserable sales volume) they were always going to slip an A2 in to the mix somewhere.
When does a Rolls-Royce Ghost become a Phantom rival? When you add 170mm to the wheelbase and launch the Ghost Extended Wheelbase. At 5569mm long, the LWB Ghost is still comfortably shorter than the 5834mm regular Rolls Phantom (the stretched Phantom soars beyond six metres!).
The last A3 we drove, an Irish-spec model with cloth seats and a 1.4 TSI engine paired with Audi's S-tronic twin-clutch gearbox, retailed for $54,495.
